A man lives alone on the outskirts of an abandoned coal-mining town in the aftermath of an unnamed apocalypse. He studies his environment, writing and exploring in order to keep his mind sharp in the absence of human contact.

During one of his explorations, he encounters another man, barely visible through a mysterious and thick fog. A shot is fired, the other man disappears. Upon waking in his camp the following day, he is alarmed to find the man who disappeared from the fog waiting, wounded beside a fire. The man makes a proposition: if he helps him get back to town, he’ll provide him shelter from the uncertainties of the wild.

The two set out for town, unaware of the dangers that await them on their journey to Centralia.
